Rename shortcuts on a limited user account

Is there a way that I can rename/and delete my shortcuts on my desktop
in my limited user account?

Register hacks are A-Ok if that is what is needed.

I have been using RunAs a lot for other stuff.

Question 2 How can I get rid of the window that opens up whenever I
plug in a thumdrive?

Thanks,
Andy

If the shortcut is actually in *your* user profile and not "All Users" or
somewhere else you might not have access to - you can delete/edit them as
you see fit. Try it yourself. Create a new shortcut on your desktop to
something, anything. Now rename it. Now delete it.

In other words - stop using shortcvuts in the "All Users" desktop or the
"All Users" start menu and make sure you have put them in your own
profile/default user profile so new users get the same choices you do.

As for the 'window that opens up whenever [you] plug in a thumbdrive' -->
you might want to be much more specific about what that window is? Is it
the autoplay window, asking you what you want to do? Is it a U3 window?
What does it look like, what does it ask? Is there a checkbox for "Always
do this"?

I use 2 SEPARATE accounts, limited user for most work and Admin for
other things.
That is why I would like to be able to modify my shortcuts in the non-
admin account.

When I plug in a thumdrive, I sometimes get a window that shows a file
listing similar to what explorer does.

To get rid of the autoplay on your pen stick, do the following:
Insert the penstick and open Windows Explorer.
Right click on the pen stick in the list of drives and select Properties.
Go to the AutoPlay tab and select the 'Select an action to perform' option.
Then select the 'Take no action' option and OK the dialog.

That should have sorted it.
