I installed a Win XP Pro PC in a Workgroup. I changed the
folowing things in the next order.
Computername: JOYCE
IPnr: 192.168.99.231
reboot
then
Computername: SECR
IPnr: 192.168.99.231
reboot
then
Computername: MAGICSERVER
IPnr: 192.168.99.11
reboot
When I ping to Magicserver i get ipnr. 192.168.99.11 4
times
When I ping -a to 192.168.99.11 I get magicserver 4 times
When I ping to SECR I get 192.168.99.11 4 times
When I ping to JOYCE I get 192.168.99.231 with 4 time-outs
With this computer I connect to a pervasive database. It
is very slow. I installed a new networkadapter, changed
cable, used another hub and used an already in use fast
good working connection used by another computer.
What's wrong. It seems that the computer has old
computernames and IP-addresses in it's cache or something.
Thanks already
