Remote desktop question??

Hello
Currently I have a home office that has a DSL router with two computers, a windows xp machine and a windows2000 prof

I simply would like to use the win-xp remote desktop application to connect to my 2000 machine but I am getting no where on connecting to the second machine, I can ping the 2000 machine's computername as well as the IP address

At this point I am wondering if remote desktop from XP is compatible with 2000 prof

any assistance would be greatly appreciated

Hi-

To my knowledge you can only connect to XP from your W2K machine via RDC
(Remote Desktop Client).

Remote desktop client works fine with versions of windows(98 and up). The
catch is ONLY xp pro can host the remote desktop session. Meaning you can
only connect to the xp pro machine. You can't connect to win2k using remote
desktop. Win2k can connect to the xp pro with remote desktop enabled.
Otherwise, to connect to the win2k machine you can use terminal server or a
third party remote desktop app.
