Removing XP scanner

I recently upgraded a PC to XP that has a UMAX Astra 3400
scanner. I bought the new Vistascan software from UMAX and
installed it according to the instructions. However the XP
scanner drivers are still installed and the Vistascan
software cannot locate the scanner. According to UMAX the
XP scanner should be removed, but they don't say how. If I
change the scanner drivers in device manager to the UMAX
drivers that are installed with Vistascan the Vistascan
software can locate the scanner but the scanning process
causes an error in ntdll.dll.

Is there a way to entirely remove XP's scanner? And why
doesn't UMAX write as good as drivers and software as
EPSON? :(

Denys, rt click on MyComputer>select Prop>Hardware>Device Manager>Imaging
Devices. Select your
Scanner and choose Uninstall. Go to Add/Remove Programs and uninstall the
Umax Software.
Disconnect the Scanner. Restart and when XP is loaded reinstall the
Software. Then reconnect the Scanner.

No, because there is no "XP scanner."

Ask them.
