Hi, i want to completely uninstall windows (i have xp home with both service
packs installed), i need to go back to a completely blank hard drive but i
cant get into dos to format it and i dont want to use the windows disc as it
formats then installs and i dont want it on my system. Can anybody please
help?

Hi

Are you using NTFS or FAT32? If the latter then you can use a Win ME/98 EBD
to boot from and then format the hard disk/partition.

Kevin this will not work. XP prevents self destruction by preventing the
format command from working on the system drive.

Dragon, you can still use the XP CD to do what you want. Simply boot with
the CD. Go to a new install. When the computer gives the option to delete
the partition allow it to delete the partitions. When it asks to install
Windows simply cancel out and turn off the computer.
