removing windows xp setup

Don Preston

I attempted to install a home edition of xp and decided to
abort it. (It wanted to make changes that I did not want).
Now I am stuck with an option screen to choose either
Windows 98 or XP setup each time I boot up. How do I get
rid of the old Xp setup?

If you do not have a Windows 98 Emergency Startup Floppy Disk,
then make one by going into Windows 98 Control Panel | Add / Remove Programs / Startup Disk tab -

Once you have created that Windows 98 Emergency Startup Floppy Disk,
boot with it (with or without cdrom support) and when you get to the A:\>,
type in this command "sys c:" (without the quotes) and press ENTER -

Once you see the response of "system transferred" -

Take out the Windows 98 Emergency Startup Floppy Disk -

Do a CTRL + ALT + DEL to let the system restart -

You should then just be booting into Windows 98 -
