I inadvertently (sort of) installed a full, not an
upgrade copy of Windows XP on top of Windows 2000. Now I
have a dual boot partition with VERY SLOW and POOR start
up performance. How can I manually remove the Windows
2000 files? I have done this before with Win NT, so I
would think it's possible. I would expect to be able to
remove the W2K files, then re-intstall/repair the XP set
up.
Please help.
Thanks.

Hi KingAl,

Boot the WinXP system, delete the Win2K system folders. Then open boot.ini
(a hidden system file on the root of the boot partition) and remove the line
referencing the W2K system from the [operating systems] section.
