Can I remove visited links so they do not show up purple in Google
without deleting the entire history? I have tried separatly deleting
selected history pages, removing temporary internet files, cookies, but
none of this will remove the visited links.

Using IE6.0 on Windows 98

Tools | Internet Options
Click the Colors button.
Set Visited to the same color as unvisited.

If you want to remove them, try this. On your toolbar, click the 'history'
icon which will open a new pane on the left side of your screen, and will
have all of your past history listed, well not all, but will go back as far
as you have your history set, i.e. 'today' yesterday, 1 week ago, etc.
Anyway, expand all days, then you can highlight a history point, right
click it and delete it.

Neither of these seems to remove the links - atleast not in google
anyway. Does anyone know where visited links are stored on my computer,
so I can delete the file contents?

The visited links info is stored in the index.dat file in the History folder
of the user's account. You'll probably have to delete the History folder to
get the super-hidden index.dat file to reset it:

Basically, you have to log in with another account w/ admin. privileges and
delete the History folder on the problem account, then reboot.
