Removing unwanted software

Any help anyone can offer me will be greatly appreciated.

I use the Windows XP Home Edition operating system on my
Dell 8200 Dimension computer. I do not know when or how,
but I now have Whistle Software installed on my computer.
I believe this software is the cause of two error messages
that constantly and repeatedly pop-up when I am accessing
the internet (halting operations until I click on "OK" in
the error message box). [These messages are: "Failed to
create WSEL parser" and "Failed to create WSEL Network
Service parser."]

When I go to my Control Panel and open the "Add/Remove"
Programs feature, this Whistle Software is not listed as
one of the programs on my computer that I can remove. Why
can I not find and remove this software from this location?

In Windows Explorer, when I searched for a file
containing "WSEL" I found this Whistle Software program in
the "C:Programs\Unknown Software" folder. I found
an "uninstall" file within the Whistle Software sub-
folder. However, when I open this file and click on "Yes"
to uninstall, the program does not uninstall, even though
all Internet applications are closed. [On my bottom
toolbar, there is a button that says, "Uninstalling" but
the box that says click "Yes" or "No" to uninstall
remains. I even tried not touching the computer for 30
minutes after clicking "Yes" to uninstall. Finally, when
I later click "No" on the choice box (the only way to get
rid of that box), a window appears that says the program
is finishing uninstalling the software. However, when I
click "Finish" to complete the process of uninstalling,
the program remains there in my folder.

I tried to delete the software by highlighting the sub-
folder and clicking on delete. However, I got a message
that some of the files could not be deleted. Can you tell
me how to remove this unwanted software from my computer?

Thank you for your help.

You have probably inadvertently downloaded and installed adware,
spyware, parasite, trojan or a browser hijacker from some web site:

The Whistle software also leaves tracks in the registry.
You might want to get a decent registy cleaner like McAfee.

Sounds like spyware or a home page hijacker.

Run these tools weekly
spybot -- http://www.safer-networking.org/
