Removing the "shortcut" icons

I was wondering if it is possible to remove the
little "shortut" icons from my desktop or computer
altogether. (the little arrow in the bottom left hand
corner of shortcut icons)

Any help would be appreciated.

Hey, here is a regestry tweak you can try.

Remove shortcut icon from icons on Desktop
1. Open Regedit
2. Navigate to HKEY_CLASSES_ROOT\lnkfile
3. Rename IsShortcut in AriochIsShortcut
4. Reboot xp

I could not find the .lnkfile directory.. just .lnk and
theres no files called those in there...
