removing the "shortcut arrow" from my icons

VERY SMALL PROBLEM...

I know I'm not crazy - In an older version of WIndows
(not sure how old) you could change the option of having
the little arrow in the bottom left corner of any
shortcut on your desktop, or displaying theicons without
it. How do I do this in XP Professional?
