Removing the read only on a data base

I have a data base that was copied from another computer. I can make changes
on my computer, but everyone on my network gets a read only message when
accessing the data base through the network. It is a Access 2000 formated
file. I have checked to see if the data base is "checked" read only and it
isn't--only archive is checked. I am stuck! Any ideas???

Hi Melissa,

See the following KB article:

Introduction to .ldb files
http://support.microsoft.com/?id=299373

All users must have RWCD privileges for the folder on the file server. In addition, you really
want to split the database into front-end (FE) and back-end (BE) databases. A copy of the FE goes
on each user's local hard drive. The BE, which has the shared data, is placed on the file server.
This should be considered a minimum configuration. There are many other things to do as well,
when moving a single user database to a multi-user configuration. Post back if you are interested
in these additional details.

Tom

Thanks so much Dave. I knew it was something checked or unchecked. Thanks
again for helping me with this!!
