The "image" was a photograph, placed on the slide by INSERT | PICTURE | FROM
FILE.

1.Delete a picture
Do the following for all programs listed in the Applies To at the top
of the article.Click the picture that you want to delete, and then
press DELETE.
To delete multiple pictures, press and hold CTRL while you click the
pictures that you want to delete, and then press DELETE.
2.Delete a picture used as a slide background
Applies only to Microsoft Office PowerPoint 2007
Click the slide that you want to delete the background picture for.
To select multiple slides, click the first slide, and then press and
hold CTRL while you click the other slides.
On the Design tab, in the Background group, click Background Styles,
and then click Reset Slide Background.
