Picture Quality

I insert pictures into Powerpoints frequently, but these are generally only
on one slide, so I never worry about compression, or about image size being
too large. In Powerpoint 2000, the photographs, when manually click-dragged
into smaller size, were still beautiful quality. These files, when opened in
2007, still have beautiful pictures. When I create a new file in 2007,
though, it appears that it is automatically downgrading picture-quality. The
photographs are pixelated and blurry. Again, I am not running any
compression on them. How can I get my picture quality back?
