Removing the first DC of a Windows 2000 Forest

Hi

My company have a Forest with one domain and several W2K DC.

the first DC the we were installed is having a lot of problems

I want to know if I could "demote" from the Forest/Domain, format it and
install again (with the same name /Ip address) (And perhaps with Windows
2003)

Is this possible ? Could I found any problem ?

Just be sure to move the FSMOs first.
