Removing something from System Configuration Utility

I've managed to delete the spyware program which i couldn't before but still
need to remove its startup line. I'm looking at System Configuartion Utility
and it is showing me the program under 'Startup' still. Obviously i can
untick the box but then i reticks itself when i go back to 'Normal Startup'
from 'Selective Startup'.

Apparently its location is 'HKLM\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVer....'
but i can't find this in C:\

Help!

Well, that location is in the registry. You'll have to edit the
registry to remove the data item under the Run key (the part that is
under what you specified by just "...").

If the box is getting reticked, you have *not* removed the program. It's
still on your machine.

HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Run
is in the registry, not in C:\

What is the program?

Leave it on Selective startup, then at next boot there will be a message
about 'System Configuration'. Check the 'Do not show again' box and
exit.

The reference is in the registry - you could run regedit.exe and look
for the line in the right pane at
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Run
, highlight the line, hit the Delete key.
