Removing slide number from slide 1

I'm navigating to Insert > Slide Number > then checking the Slide Number box
and also checking the Don't show on title slide checkbox.

However, the page number continues to show on the first slide.

Any help greatly appreciated.

Doug: Look at your insert again. and try the do not show on title slide.

Does your first slide use the title slide layout or a regular title +
bulleted text layout? Go to Slide Layout and choose the first layout, which
is listed as Title Slide. Then when you check the option to not show (page
number) on title slide, it won't.

Otherwise, use a different master for that slide and delete the page number
placeholder on that master. Or just cover it up using a rectangle filled with
the background (Format|Object|Colors and Lines -- choose Background in the
fill color area).
