Removing password from upload

My provider recently "fixed" a problem in our service. After the fix, I now
need to have my guest uploaders of pictures use a password when uploading
via a form I created. I know there's an answer, but I can't find it
anywhere, and it's been a year since I fixed it last time.... I can't
remember the answer. It's directory privs or something similar I think.
Anyone know the answer?

It should be "your" account password for your hosting service. Something is
wrong there, because the password prompt should not be coming up if the host
has allowed uploading. It is a permissions issue; contact your host.
