Removing page edge marks for scanning/OCR with Omnipage

Hi Group,

Would it be okay to ask a question about Omnipage 15 here? (I can't
seem to find a group specialized for OCR software.)

The question is how, when you copy pages of a book, to remove or
prevent vertical lines in the output caused by page edges in the
scan. It seems like there should be an option to ignore or filter
these out, but I can't see this mentioned in the documentation.

Thanks in advance for any suggestions.

This group is as good as any for questions about OCR.

I do own Omnipage Pro 15.
You have the option of setting your Text Zone manually.

At the menu you have four buttons labeled 1.2.3, a button labeled 1, a
button labeled 2 and a button labeled 3.
To get full control of your Scan and OCR, you do not use the 1.2.3. button

Instead, in the drop down of the Button 1, you choose the type of scan from
you scanner. I use Scan Grayscale for most documents. (Usually the best
results).

After you have scanned all of your pages, you then click the Text Zone
button and highlight the text you want to OCR.
After the zone marking, you Click button 2, I use Automatic most to the
time. You do have a choice of Manual selections. Button 2 does the OCR.

Button 3 is the Save to File button, You get to choose the format you want
your document saved as.

PDF is nice unless you intent to edit, then Microsoft Word .doc is better.
