removing outlook express

I followed the advice of another poster to uninstall outlook express but got
the error 1406, set up cannot write the value to the registry key HWX link-E-
link

I run Vista and it was installed on my computer when i bought it last year. I
was advised from a poster on this site to go to Tools, Control Panel. MS
Office, click change, click add and remove, make outlook unavailable by drop
down box and outlook will be uninstalled. That is when I got the Error 1406

You're in the wrong group for this issue but before we guide you to a
better group are you talking about Outlook or Outlook Express, they are
different applications.
