There are actually two (2) different "Messengers" and they function
differently:
How are MSN Messenger and Windows Messenger different?

You can easily uninstall "MSN MESSENGER" via the Add/Remove Programs
applet in your Control Panel.
Or you can disable "Windows Messenger":
Open "Windows Messenger" and from the Toolbar select
Tools > Options > Preferences and uncheck:
"Run this program when Windows starts" and
"Allow this program to run in the background", then
click OK.

| How do I remove MSN messenger from my computer? I have attempted to remove through control panel. I have
also gone into msconfig and unclicked it from launching when the computer is rebooted. But every time I
launch Outlook it reappears.
