How do I make it so that windows Xp does not display the last person to log
in's user name in my log in box.
The idea of the "type it in" box is that for security not only does someone
wishing to access your computer have to know the password, they also have to
know the user name. If my name is in there already then all they have to do
is to guess the password. This obvously makes security half of what it
sghould.

If any of you know how3 to make it so that it does not do this,
please repy to this message, or e-mail me.

Thank you

Daniel

Daniel,

You can actually disable the Welcome screen and revert back to the
traditional type-in based logon.

To do this,

Control Panel > User Accounts > Change the way user log on or off > tick off
"Use Welcome Screen"

Log off and see the newly changed effect! :)

having read his message I would have said that he was already using the
tradiotnal login box as opposed to the welcome screen ? there used to be a
regedit for this to always present a blank username but I cannot remember it
hopefully someone will know it

good luck

Oh sorry, misread OP's post.

Please read Nepatsfan's post for the solution.
