Removing Icons from Task Bar

I am trying to remove some of the icons that have been placed on my task bar
by Norton and Google. Also I have a Floppy Disk icon taking up a lot of
space. How can I customize my task bar so that these items disappear.

Update

I did find a way to delete most of the unwanted icons by using toolbar menu
however I still cannot get rid of gigantic NORTON bar.

If you have google and Norton right click on links and uncheck goggle
Do not ask ,but that was how I deleted it

Your suggestion worked fine. Nore more Google or Norton icons taking up so
much space.
