I installed windows XP PRO and it went on the D drive. I than had XP Home on
C drive and XP pro on D drive. Each time I booted up it gave me the option
of bootoing from one or the orther. How do I get it to boot only from the C
drive without asking me the option??? I can't figure it out.

You need to explain this a little better....do you still have XP Home on the
C drive as well as XP Pro on the D drive???..........or did you format D to
get rid of XP Pro and only have XP home installed ???

In the root of the C drive you will find "Boot.ini" open this file with
notepad and remove the line that points to XP Pro.

Peter,
Yes, I still have XP Home on the C: drive and XP Pro on the D:. I checked
the route of C: and could not find any Boot.ini file. It looks like the
computer goes right to the select option before it even looks at the drives.
Maybe in the Bios but can't figure it out.

Boot.ini is a hidden, read-only system file. Go in the Folder Options
and change the options to allow you to view the file. Or from a Command
prompt you can easily open the file by doing the following commands:

set system

This will show you which drive is the Systen Drive, usually and almost
allways, but *not* neccessarily, C:. Once you know the system drive
navigate to its root folder. Once there issue:

attrib -s -h -r Boot.ini

That will remove the attributes on the file and allow you to edit and
save it. To open the file just issue the filename as a commmand and it
will open automatically with Notepad:

boot.ini

Once you are done editing the file issue the attrib command again to
restore the attributes on the file and to protect it:

attrib +s +h +r Boot.ini

johnjohn asnwered your question...I just have another question.
You edit the Boot.ini to get rid of the dual boot....how are you aiming to
access XP pro on the D drive???
Or are you aiming to just let it sit there and waste the space??
What you did was create a Dual Boot by changing the boot.ini your just
getting rid of the choice screen...nothing else
The boot files are still on the C drive...you wont be able to access XP Pro
unless you put the choice back in boot.ini.

What are you aiming to achieve??

Thank you John and Peter;
That worked very well. I guess the only way to get rid of the boot that is
on the D: drive is to format the drive. I think what I will do is to do a
Ghost from the D: drive to the C: drive and then format the D: drive as I do
want to use XP Pro. I guess I should have upgraded the XP Home with the XP
Pro but I heard it was better to load XP without doing the upgrade. Now that
I have the two of them I do not want XP Home. Maybe just switch hard drives.
Anyway you all have fixed my main problem and I will think about waht else
do tomorrow, (Like Little Annie).

Your missing the point here my friend....there are no boot files on the D
drive that are capable of starting your system.
Cloning D to C will mean none of the programs that are on C will
survive...they will be gone and then you will still need to do a Repair
install or at least a Recovery Console command to fix the boot.
So why not just start from scratch since you will have to reinstall all of
your programs anyway.
From within XP home format the D drive...this will delete all. Then save all
of your work files to a directory on the D drive.Gather all of your Program
CD's...Mobo CD...Harware drivers....then start the Pro installation
formating the C drive during the NEW installation....then start
reinstalling...mobo drivers...Hardware drivers...programs..

or you can just upgrade the Home installation to a Pro Installation and all
will be still there...with luck

Peter,
Thanks again for the great advice. Will do one of the suggestions.
