Removing boot options

I attempted to install W98 as a dual boot to XP Pro. Made a mess.
Removed W98 through format.
Now, when I bootup, choice arises in boot screen to select
'Windows' or XP.
Went through control>system>startup and recovery and remove
reference to W98 but it still arises on reboot.
How do I revert on booting XP only without the choose screen?
 
Manually edit the file boot.ini on the root of the C:\
drive. Just remove the referance to win98
 
post the contents of your boot.ini file ...someone here should be able to
help
