Removing AOL supplied Internet Explorer

I want to remove the IE that was loaded through an America
On Line disk. I have tried the standard remove programs
and it will not go away. I was told that it goes into the
registry and I am not knowledgeable about registries. Are
there any programs that will delete it? Suggestions please.
 
Remove AOL then get the latest version of IE and install
that will get rid of any other versions.
V6 is the latest.
