Hello,

I downloaded a program through a download accelerator and because it wasnt i
direct download link (like filename.exe or something) it just saved it as the
file id which was 2.

I then went to the download directory and changed the filename extension to
..exe, and the program still doesnt run. I would like to know how to remove
the .exe extension and maybe if you have any ideas on how to get the file
working please tell me.

Also the file is the exact same size as it is when i try to download it
without using the download accelerator so i dont think its the wrong file.

Thanks in advance

We would be able to help more readily if you provided a description/name of
the file and the web page from which you are downloading it.

I found out how to remove the extension ( tools > folder options > hide known
file extensions) and then i emoved the extension. But doesnt anyway have any
ideas on what i should do to get the file working.

Thanks in advance

Assuming you know the file is safe...
Have you tried using the zip extension?
Often programs come packed in zip archives.
Also, some might have an msi extension (Microsoft Installer).
Can you provide a link?

I downloaded: 3DMark06_v102_installer.exe
From: http://www.bjorn3d.com/download/index.php?dlid=2

I used download accelerator plus to download using this link i think:
http://www.bjorn3d.com/download/index.php?ACT=dl&id=2&symid=2

and then it download a 576mb file called "2" ( I guessed it gave the name as
the fileid)

And now if i add a .exe extension to the file it doesnt run, i even renamed
the whole ile to what it was when you manually try to download the file.

When I click the link with IE, I get the file name as "3DMark06_v102_installer.exe."
That's one big installer.

Go to this page: http://www.futuremark.com/download/?3dmark06.shtml
There are many other links to try downloading from.
That should help.
