Removing Administrator Password

Guest

I want to disable my passoword log in. Everytime I log in it asks me to enter
a password. I want to be able to log in by clicking on my account without
entering a password, just like the guest account and my husbands account. I
had it like this before but I don't know what I did. Please Help.

Thanks In Advance,
Carolyn

Control Panel, User Accounts. Select your account, click Change Password.
Enter your current password, if necessary and leave the boxes for the new
password blank.

I appreciate your response. . However the thing is that with my
administrator account being password protected my account (administrator)
doesn't show on the welcome screen,

Presumably you mean THE administrator account, the built-in one.
Please be aware that it is VERY BAD PRACTICE to use the built-in
Administrator account on a day-to-day basis and as your only account on the
computer. If the account gets corrupted, as it may well do, then your ONLY
way into the machine is by doing a repair install of XP. set up a User
account and give that Admin rights for daily use, leaving the built-in
Administrator account for emergency access only.

Gordon but how do I transfer all my files into the new account? Just doing
the "send to" will that work?

Okay and let's say I don't use the buit in admin. account anymore how can i
access it later? Since it doesn't show up on the welcome screen?

Thank you everyone for your help. =))

For XP Pro: Press CTRL-ALT-DEL twice at the Welcome Screen, with no other
users logged on. You'll get the older logon dialog. Enter Administrator
and any password that you have set for that account.

To enable the Administrator account on the new Windows XP logon screen in
Windows XP Pro, visit my web site, www.dougknox.com and go to the Windows XP
Utilities section. Follow the link for Enable Administrator Account ......

This small VB application will make the registry change necessary for the
Administrator account to be available on the Welcome Screen. If you prefer
to do it manually, click Start, Run and enter REGEDIT Navigate to:

HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows
NT\CurrentVersion\Winlogon\SpecialAccounts\UserList\

Note: There is a space between Windows and NT in the above Key.

Add the Administrator account if necessary and/or change the Administrator
value to 1

For XP Home, you can only log into the built in Administrator account in
Safe Mode, so the fixes above will be of little use.

As for copying the files between accounts, you can just use drag and drop or
copy/paste in Windows Explorer.

I did the drag and drop with my documetns, such as pictures, music and all
the other files. When I log in on my account (not the bult-in adminstartor)
all my other programs don't work, such as itunes, Paintshop and some other
programs. Do i have to re-install it? Also, I have windows blinds on my built
in administrator account but in the other account I can't access it. How come?
