I have "address suggestions" that appear when I make
partial address entries that I would like to remove.

I have tried the options alternatives without success.

Can you tell me what I should do?

Try the following and see if it helps:

The temporary files only holds so many files, so perhaps you might try
clearing the Temporary Internet Files and History.

Tools | Internet Options | At the Temporary Internet Files click on Settings
| View Files tab | Edit | Select All | click Delete key, then click OK.
Click Clear History on the General tab.

Hope this helps.

Hi Joe - To delete ALL Addresses in the Drop Down list, go here and download
and install Mike Burgess' DelTypedURL.inf at
http://mvps.org/winhelp2002/delcache.htm See below for Selective Delete.

You can also get DelSearchMRU.inf at
http://mvps.org/winhelp2002/DelSearchMRU.inf

Note: this does not remove entries entered via AutoComplete. To remove
hidden AutoComplete entries in History:
http://mvps.org/winhelp2002/delcache.htm#AutoComplete

IMPORTANT NOTE: Be sure that ALL instances of IE6 are CLOSED before you do
the install of this(these) .inf files.

A nice alternative just for selective or all Address (not Search) history
maintenance is EditURLs, here: http://www.aandrc.com/editurls/ Here also,
you must close ALL instances of IE6 for the deletions to "take".

I was unable to get this to work.

Perhaps I am not doing what I need to correctly. I went
to site suggested, found link, right clicked and saved-
as. I then went into Windows Explorer, found file, right
clicked and chose Install. Stuff is still there.

Thank you very much, but still very ugly. Please advise.

Hi Joe - This is a "routine" fix that has worked any number of times. Did
you have ALL instances of IE closed when you did the install of the .inf?
If you have any IE instance open, the addresses will be restored to the
Registry when that IE window is closed.
