Removing AD

I had a 1 server AD domain with everything running fine.
A new server was brought in to replace the old one. AD
was installed with dcpromo but the FSMO roles were NOT
transfered to the new one before the old one was removed.
Now the old one is gone (formatted) and the new one is
having trouble creating, deleting users, etc.
I tried to remove AD with dcpromo but it can't contact
the old sever so it errors out.
QUESTION: Is there a way to add FSMO roles to the new
server OR is there another way to remove AD without
having to reinstall win2k. Thanks.

You can seize FSMO roles. Have a look at the following
article
http://support.microsoft.com/?kbid=255504
There has to be a global catalog server on the network. If
you didn't make the new server a global catalog server
before you formatted the old server, you are going to have
major problems.

I did not make it a global catalog server. Is there
anything I can do at this point?
