Removing a user account

I have 2 administrator accounts set up and want to delete
the inactive one. Is there a way to remove the account so
that it does not show in the switch user button. I tried
to click explore and then deleted all of the items listed
under that account but it still shows?

Remove the account via the user accounts applet in control panel.
 
I have tried to remove it via control panel/user accounts
but there is not an option there to delete either
account....

You didn't get an option to delete an account after clicking on it?
 
No, my only choices are: 1) create a new account,2)
Change an account,3) change the way users log on or off.
They are both administrators accounts to choose from.
