Removing a server

I have recently added a new server to my domain. After everything is running
well and all my user elements and file server elements have been transferred
to the new server, I shutdown my old server. Now, my whole network is
incredibly slow. Users take forever to logon and applications like Internet
explorer and Outlook and other office programs take 30 seconds to load. I
turn the old server back on and everything speeds right back up again?
Anyone have any Idea on how I go about fixing this.

Thanks Doug.

All that is already done. This server is a standalone box now. I can look
in my own workstations registry and there are hundreds of entries that point
to the UNC name of this box. It may have something to do with that.

If you or anyone else has any other suggestions, then feel free to add.

OK, if Event Viewer on the current domain controller is not showing any
errors, AD is probably clean. Obviously, whenever you swap servers you may
need to check/alter things like drive mappings, roaming profiles, offline
files, logon scripts, etc. However, I suspect that your problem may be with
MS Office. If the old server was an applikcation server or even if it only
provided a source for a network install, you may need to reconfigure or
reinstall Office from the new server. Suggest you check with some of the
Office newsgroups.
