Removing a second copy of XP (on the same partition)

Basic story is as follows:

I had an annoying error with XP (display control panel
kept crashing), and nothing I tried seemed to fix it, so
I tried to reinstall the OS into the original directory
(C:\Windows). Something went wrong with the reinstall,
such that on every attempt to reboot, it bluescreens and
reboots again, ad infinitum. So I reinstalled a second
time, to a new directory (C:\WinXP), which worked
perfectly. But now I have two copies of XP on my
machine. How do I remove the unnecessary copy?
