Removing a PC from a domain - enabling local accounts.

Hello,

I tried to boot a PC in safe mode but it wouldn't accept any accounts or
passwords I tried. I used a unix boot CD I normally use to enable the
administrator account and password but it won't work on this PC. If I
remove it from the domain and put it in a work group - can I set up an
account with local PC administrative rights before I reboot? I want to make
sure it doesn't reboot and I can't log in to it locally and won't have a way
of getting it back into the domain.

I have a winfixer problem that none of the 5 programs I tried could get rid
of.- f-prot, ewiedo, Norton AV, fixwareout, adaware - (Using the absolute
latest version with latest definitions for all).
I was going to try VundoFix but it requires safe mode. I think the problem
might be mljgd.dll but I need safe mode to rename it. I can't figure out
what else is causing the winfixer popups.

Thanks

You should be able to boot into Safe Mode with any local administrator
account to do what you want and the very least the built in administrator
account should work [even if disabled] assuming there is not some other
problem barring access to Safe Mode. Be sure to try a blank password also.
You also could try using msconfig for selective startup that pretty much is
the same as Safe Mode [except drivers maybe] once you disable services and
startup application. With all the problems that you are having I would
probably do a clean install of the operating system to a formatted system
drive and start over fresh being sure to backup any needed data files
