Hi and thanks for replying if you can...

My son downloaded IE7 halfway and stopped it. Can anyone tell me how to get
rid of it to reinstall? It's caused numerous problems with winit.dll not
being complete because of the sudden stop. Add/Remove programs doesnt have
the uninstall and I went into the dos command prompt like Sandi recommended
on another question but it doesnt work.
Is there another way i can manually get rid of it without doing a full
system recovery?.

My restore feature doesnt function either because of this.

Thanks I appreciate anyones time in trying to help me,
Roseanne

Download and re-install IE6.

Hi-
I can't get rid of Ie7 it won't let me. Keeps telling me another user
downloaded it and won't let me delete it in add/remove programs.

Any ideas?
Thanks,
Roseanne

Pegasus if I download IE6 don't I have to get rid of IE7 first? Thats where
my problem lies.
Thanks,
Roseanne

Tell your son NOT to download any programs without your permission or he
will lost his internet access.

I can't tell because I never tried to install IE6. Give it a try!
Why can't you use System Restore to go back a few days?

1) Empty the cache - open IE -> Tools -> Internet Options -> Temporary
Internet Files section, click Delete Files (incl tick for Delete all
offline content, when it appears)

2) Clean out your computer - open My Computer -> right click C drive
-> Disk Cleanup -> tick everything, <OK> (Note : if this hasn't been
done for a while (or ever) it will take some time. Be prepared to
leave it running and go and watch TV. DON'T USE THE COMPUTER WHILE
IT'S RUNNING - that defeats the purpose)

3) If all else fails, download a program called ccleaner (freeware) It
will clean everything out (i.e. you might have to re-enter the
occassinal password for whatever web sites require it, or you might
have to re-type in a few www addresses - ccleaner clears out the
autocomplete records). But an acceptable price to pay ....

How would your method affect a half-baked IE7 installation?

Hi Pegasus,
The system won't let me. Gives me an error saying microsoft needs to know
of this sorry for the inconvenience. Send error report.
Oh....can I be infected with a virus???? Norton has been crippled as well
as webroot?

Hi Plato--
I'm a novice to all of this. May I ask what bootdisk.com does? I'm so
confused at this point,
Plato crippling IE7 before installation would this cause Webroot Spysweeper,
Norton, Restore, Email, Trying to configure account in accounts manager---to
name a few not work? Or could I have a virus? Can't run a virus scan to see.
Thanks for all your input,
Roseanne

Try booting into Safe Mode (pres F8 early in the
boot phase), then try a restoration. If this does not
work then your next step would have to be a repair
installation of Windows.

This is exactly why every user should have their own PC. I see others
have responded; hope it's fixed.
