Rolling back IE7

Can I be sure that if I uninstall IE7 it will revert to IE6, even though IE7
is not showing as an update in add/remove programmes and IE6 is not showing
as an installed programme? Apologies to Shenan whom I believe has told me
that uninstalling IE7 will leave me with IE6 but I want to be ABSOLUTELY sure
as there doesnt seem to be any logic to the removal of one version of a
programme leading to the automatic installation another!

IE7 installed as an upgrade to IE6. During the install, it backed up the
IE6 components that were upgraded. When you do an uninstall (accessed by
select Windows Internet Explorer 7 in Add or Remove Programs) it will
restore the IE6 files that were replaced during the upgrade which will
restore IE6.

For more in depth information on uninstalling IE7 see

Perhaps you don't see Windows Internet Explorer 7 in Add/Remove because
you haven't ticked Show Updates at the top right hand side of the
Add/Remove window. It will revert back to IE6. Make sure you disable
your anti virus' auto scan so it doesn't interfere with the uninstall.

While that was true for some of the beta versions of IE7, there is no need
to tick "Show Updates" in order to see the final release of IE7 in the Add
or Remove list. However, most folks assume it will be listed in the M's
with the rest of Microsoft's products. For IE7 they decided to list it as
"Windows Internet Explorer 7" (I guess to distinguish the fact that there
will be no Apple or Linux version) so it is down near the bottom of the
list.

As it was an update, I just assumed that. My bad. I haven't installed
IE7 and have no intentions of doing so.
