Remove Win2000 Boot Loader

Just because you say the wrong thing many times does
not make it right.

Instead or misquoting lots of MS KB articles, why don't
you try your recipe? You will then find that fdisk /MBR
will never remove the Win2000 Boot loader.

Hi,

Thank you for all your responses.

I was doing a complete machine rebuild when going from Win2K to WinXP. I
dropped all partitions using WinXP install. I ran the Win98 fdisk /mbr. I
ran the Maxtor low level format utility. But when I would install WinXP, I
would still get the Win2K white bar screen and then the boot would crap out.
Does anyone know how to make a hard drive look like it has never seen an
operating system?

Thank you,
DEJ
