Remove unwanted folders from Outlook.pst

Dont run, this question may not be as simple as it looks...

I have a few "categories" in my Outlook.pst file that have sub-folders, but
since the view of these sub-folders opens up a "special" view, the
sub-folders are not available to me to get at "directly".

Example, I copied the Contacts folder from one .pst file to another. This
created a Contacts sub-folder in Contacts... (I can at least see this one, I
cannot delete it even though it is current empty...)

Tasks, Calendar, etc.. I ran an Outlook Duplicates remover plug-in... When
it found dups, it creates a sub-folder and puts the dups there... How do I
open that sub-folder... If I look at my Local Folders, these "special
folders" are filtered (I assume) since I do not see "Tasks", "Calendar", etc
in the Local Folder, just mail objects and folders... If I click on the Tasks
tab, I get the tasks view... that does not allow manipulation of sub-tasks
(at least I havent found one).

Help?!?

The Folder List will, however.

Why would you do that? The correct thing to do is to copy the _contents_ of
one folder to another, when working with the default folders.

Use the Folder List view, if you have it. It's hard to advise you when you
keep the version of Outlook you're using a secret.

Sorry that I didnt include details about my install...
I have Office Profesisonal 2003
Outlook 2003
all available updates applied
OS is WinXP Pro SP2

Categories can't have subfolders.

Gee, I'm glad they cant... The ODIR utility (from Vaita) created them just
fine... The issue is not whether or not they should or can exist... They have
been created, now what can I do about it? (By the way, although I do
recommend OSASYNC, Vaita's other product; this ODIR thing is terrible...
There are better duplicate remover tools out there...)

The Folder List will, however.

Cool, now that I figured out how to get the "raw" folder list ("Go", "Folder
List") I think I can deal with this...

Of course it is... But if you're expecting to be able to drag the "folder"
to, say, the "Local Folders" folder and expect to see (as you do with
explorer) the "one of these already exists..." and then you fumble the drag
and drop and drop Contacts on top of Contacts... Well, there you are.... I
screwed up... I know it, you know it... I merely included the example so that
people would know one of the ways this "cant happen" thing actually did
happen...

Keeping it a secret? Nah, just didnt include it... For this forum, I would
have thought that kind of stuff might be a part of someone's profile... guess
not...

There is no such thing as "sub-tasks".

Acutally, there is... But in this case, I was just using (what I thought was
an obvious, considering the context) short-hand reference to "task items in a
sub-folder of the tasks folder"

No it didn't. Categories are simply strings contained within entries -
strings like "Holiday", "Personal", "Business". They are stored in the
items in folders. You can't create a subfolder of a category, only other
folders.
