Outlook 2003 Remove Calendar,Tasks,Contacts from Favorites area?

How can I remove Calendar, Tasks and Contacts icons from the Favorite Folders
area? They are not Folders so I don't have th option to just click 'remove
folder from favorites'

Sounds like you have a corrupted Navigation Pane as those folders shouldn't
be there to begin with ;-)
Start Outlook with the /resetnavpane switch
Start-> Run; outlook.exe /resetnavpane
