Remove 'Personalizes settings' on login

I have Xp SP2 PCs in a 2000/2003 domain updated with WSUS. After an update
all of them now say "Setting up personalized settings" for each user that
logs on which is irritating. User profiles are not retained on logout so this
happens every time.

I found this article
http://support.microsoft.com/default.aspx?scid=kb;EN-US;q238441 but that
would mean manually editing the LOCAL_MACHINE key of every PC.

Is there no easy way to disable this using GPOs etc, or do I have to write a
script to remove these STUBPATH entries?

You might post in microsoft.public.softwareupdatesvcs and/or
microsfot.public.windows.group_policy - I haven't seen this myself, but
someone there may have.
