remove or update RealPlayer?

Secunia PSI shows an end-of-life security issue for RealPlayer6, which
probably came with my 5-year-old WinXP SP3 computer. Is this program
something I should update, or is it OK to simply remove it? I do have
Windows Media Player installed but don't know if RealPlayer does something
different. Sometimes Add/Remove Programs shows how often a program is used
and when it was last used, but there's no information there for this
program.

Thank you!

WMP performs most of the functions of Realplayer, with the exception of those
media which are saved in realplayer format, personally I very seldom use
Realplayer and tend avoid use when asked, I prefer other software.
with that said, if I were you I would update the playersoftware.

Thank you! I'll update it.

It was the RealPlayer people that sued Microsoft, lied before Congress, and
got the EU weasels to force Microsoft to strip Media Player out of Windows
sold in the EU. I hate them.

I'm not too fond of Sun and Java either.
