Remove & Install V.92 Modem

I have an HP Pavilion 760N PC at 1.8GHZ with the Windows
XP Home Edition Operating System.

This system is almost 2 years old and we have the V.90
Protocol data/fax modem and would like to remove it and
install the V.92/V.44 data/fax modem to have the MOH
(modem on hold) capability.

Can you point me to an article on modem removal and
installation?

Thanks!

I don't know any article but it's not difficult to
install a new modem. I'll try to explain.

1. Unscrew any screw/s(normally one) holding the old
modem onto the chasis.
2. Remove the old modem and replace with new one.
3. Put screws back and load up window.
NOTE: Should power down system before attempting to do
any hardware modification.

Window should detect the new hardware and will try to
install the driver for it. But if it doesn't find any,
put in the driver disc that came with the modem and
install that. If you don't know what to do after putting
the disc in, post another msg and I'll cover that too. =)

Should you remove the driver for the old modem (V.90
protocol modem) before removing the old modem and
installing the new one?

One other thing - Have you checked with your ISP to see that they are using
V.92 modems? The feature you are wanting to use won't work unless there are
V.92 modems on both ends.

Instructions should come with the modem you are buying. Follow those.
