Remove Formatting Lines

I did something that causes lines to appear on all of my work docs. They are
like guides or formatting lines. Somewhere I clicked a button that said to
"show" these lines. Now I can't figure out how to remove them. They show
where my margins are, they show each line when I hit enter, they show margins
around text boxes...they basically encompass everything that is on the page
in thin, light black lines that are there for formatting guides.

please help me stop seeing them.

In Word 2003 and earlier, open Tools > Options > View. In Word 2007, go to
Office button > Word Options > Advanced and scroll down to the "Show
document content" section.

In either case, uncheck the box for "Show text boundaries".

Sounds like you may have clicked on text boundaries box - in Word 2003, go to
Tools, Options, the View tab
