Hi,

I am getting a warning that my windows firewall (SP2) is switched off every
time I start XP.

However, each time I switch off the warning and tell the software that I
have my own firewall.

Nevertheless, next time I boot, I get the same warning again.
How can I make that setting permanent?

It's your call, but why turn it off? Anyway,

1. Click Start, click Run, type wscui.cpl, and then click OK.
2. In the Resources area, click Change the way Security Center alerts me.
3. Click to clear the check box for Firewall
4. Click OK.

Hope this helps.

Sometimes changing the alert setting doesn't stick after rebooting. If
that's the case then the next option is to turn off the security center
service. Go to Start | Run. Type in services.msc, click ok . Scroll
down to Security Center, stop it, then set to disabled.
