On the welcome screen for xp pro, (the screen where you click on your user icon to logon to the computer) next to my name it shows I have unread email waiting. Is there anyway to turn this option off? I don't want the other users to see that I have email waiting.

Hi,

Overview of Mail Notification Display on WinXP Welcome Screen [Q304148]

This should help.

1. Click Start and select Run.
2. Type Regedit in the Open field.
3. Navigate to the following path:

HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\UnreadMail

4. Double-click the "MessageExpiryDays" value in the right pane and change
the value to 0.

5. Close the registry editor and log off from Windows for the changes to
take effect.

If you don't want to edit the Windows registry, download TweakUI, one of the
free Microsoft Powertoys for Windows XP at:

http://www.microsoft.com/WINDOWSXP/pro/downloads/powertoys.asp

Save the TweakUI.exe file to a folder on your hard drive, then double click
that file to and install TweakUI.

Once installed, click the Start button/All Programs/Powertoys for Windows
XP/TweakUI.

When TweakUI opens, in the left pane click the + to the left of Logon to
expand the list under that heading, then click on Unread Mail. In the right
pane click to REMOVE the checkmark for the option: Show Unread Mail On
Welcome Screen. Then click the APPLY and OK buttons. TweakUI for Windows
XP has many other worthwhile "tweaks" to customize Windows XP.
