remove admin pass at recovery console

A customers computer has an regestery problem and I want
to run recovery on the XP cd, but I am asked for a
administrator password when I select drive C: . How can I
remove the password. The owner of the computer does not
know how a password got there. It is a dell computer, and
I've removed the battery with no luck.

Have you tried just leaving the password field blank and
pressing enter? If the owner did not assign a password,
chances are that no one else did.

.No luck. Is there anyway around this problem other than reinstalling XP?
