remove a program with a wrong installation

I have a problem, I've installed for mistake a version of Nero not supported
by Vista.... during the installation i got an error and the installation
quit. Now Nero is in the list of the installed programs, but is not working
and there's no way to unistall it.
I have try to install the newer version 8 but during installation the
program prompt me to unistall the older version. So now I can't remove the
program, and I can't install the new one....
How to modify the register of windows in order to make it believe that the
old nero has been unistalled? maybe in this way i can install the newer
version?
Someone know how to do?

Thanks a lot for your answers.....
