I need to remove the automatic insertion of the 1+ in front of business fax
numbers for contacts; how do I do this? Thanks!

By setting your Outlook dialing options to stop automatically the country
code to your numbers. Doing so is not recommended, however. Fax numbers
_should_ be in canonical format.

No, this is through a RightFax server via Outlook and we only want a local
4-digit number for faxing, no 1+, no area code, no prefix! Thanks!

Well maybe I'm dense today, Russ, but that seems to get me to the same
dialing options I see in control panel and phone and modem settings, and I do
not see a way to tell it to not put a 1+ in a phone number, no matter what
country/location I choose!

to answer. The path I posted does nothing of the kind in either Win XP or
Vista. Convince me that your situation is an exception.

Alright, a challenge! 
And also a "DOH" since I now see the Dialing
Options selection, and I see where it says to automatically add country code
to local numbers, albeit not checked; however, I sure don't know what to put
in here to not have it put a 1+ on all my numbers.
PS: We are on XP/SP2 operating system.

If you leave the box unchecked, Outlook will not add the country code
automatically as long as your dialing location and Regional Settings are set
correctly for your operating system.
