Removal XP 2

Trying to remove XP so i can do a clean install but am emcountering probs:

1) XP does not show unser add/remove
2) have tried using the $ntservice pack.... &
3) have tried the recovery console

Any sugguestions ?

XP is your operating system, it cannot uninstall itself. If your
installation media included SP2 you cannot uninstall it, if it was SP1a or
below, SP2 should be listed in add/remove, make sure you have the show
updates box checked.
