Removal of Corrupted IE Index File

J

John DiLullo

Hi!

I am using Norton Systemworks 2004 on my computer and I
cannot delete Internet history after cleaning with
Cleansweep. After going to Symantec's knowledge database
I found their solution. According to them this problem is
usually caused by a corrupted IE index file.

If I were using Windows 98 (or some other version which
allowed me to go into DOS mode) I could delete IE's
index.dat file under History in Windows. But since I am
using Windows XP Home it is keeping the corrupted file in
an "open" state, preventing it's deletion.

Does anybody know how I can delete the corrupted IE index
file ("index.dat" under History)? Any help would be
greatly appreciated.

Thank you.
